Forever Young

At last! Montrealers will have more picking when looking to be clad in true fashionista fashion. LA-based Forever 21 will be setting up shop this spring 09.

The trend-savvy brand will be nestled on retail-haven Ste-Catherine street in Les Ailes previously homed by Archambeault Music. The latter has strongly claimed that the move is not due to financial hiccups.

With this exciting arrival, style-conscious shoppers are most likely going to drive Mtl out of any possible economic slump; rightfully boasting the term Recessionistas!
The brand (consisting of Forever21, Heritage 1981, and Twelve by Twelve) provides current styles at an amazing value.

A second downtown location is planned for 2010 at the corner of De La Montagne/Ste-Catherine (now occupied by The Gap). No worries for those living in the ‘burbs, Brossard’s Champlain Mall will open this year just in time for Back-to-School.

On a side note, another fantabulous designer will be “guest creating” for concurrent label H&M. Matthew Williamson, formerly Pucci’s artistic director, will be fronting a much anticipated summer 09 capsule collection- sure to bring up the heat amongst dire aficionados!

With all these accessible fashions, summer simply can’t arrive any sooner!

Must ♥ Bagels

Brunch is my favourite meal of the day- no AM earliness required and never too late to indulge in a grand plate!

This past Feb. 14, I lovingly treated my Valentine to a special mid-day outing. Venturing in the Monkland Village, we stumbled upon a great eatery –
St-Viateur Bagel & Café. A family-owned business which encompasses four bakeries and two bagel cafés.
The legendary flagship, which is conveniently opened 24/7, is located on St-Viateur street, a cultural landmark dating from 1957. In addition, they offer catering packages, online orders servicing throughout Canada and the US and several wholesale locations.

The ambiance was a charming melange of families, group of girlfriends and couples. The staff was friendly and sociable and the food filling and fantabulous. Deliciously old-fashioned style bagels are baked to perfection in an authentic wood-burning oven. But personally, my coup-de-coeur was the velvety home-made whip cream-cheese!

Another bonus- the price is so ridiculously affordable that I almost felt guilty for my inexpensive St-Valentine’s treat!
