Pretty Ballerinas launches chic & eco-conscious collection

Here is another reason to pamper your twinkle toes from the misère of killer heels.

Pretty Ballerinas, the makers of handmade fashionably dainty flats, are launching a unique collection made from recycled silk parachute fabric from the ‘50s. In collaboration with a UK designer by the name of Debbi Little, this eco-friendly trend is creating big fashion points for sustainable style. Little began creating dresses with this innovative fabric in her pursuit to end the exploitation of garment workers in the fashion industry.

The new collection, bound for a curtain call in fabulousness, comes in this summer’s must-have colors -fuchsia, apple green, denim blue and pearl grey.

With a cult following of celebrities and all the rage with European trend-setters, Montreal fashionistas are sure to be toe-for-toe in line for a pair of these sophisticated shoes.

As of May 1st, the exclusive collection can be found at the Pretty Ballerinas Westmount boutique.

A pair will set you back $250 but worth every penny as you can comfortably strut in style and be as pretty as can be!

SO FRESH: Karl Lagerfeld designs Coca-Cola Light bottle

Coca-Cola has collaborated with Karl Lagerfeld to dress a chic limited-edition box set. In keeping with his trim figure, the diet Coke bottle illustrates Lagerfeld's famous silhouette sporting his iconic ponytail, high-collar and tie.

The box even features a hidden opener!

The ad campaign shot by Lagerfeld himself, features his muse Italian model Baptiste Giabiconi and a mini-Karl look-a-like, Coco Rocha.

The box set is currently available at Colette for about $70 CAD.

I'm very content with my purchases from the latest Braderie de mode quebecoise and Vintage Mart.

SO FRESH: iPad is the message

"The medium is the message" was coined in the 60's by communication theorist Marshall McLuhan. Way before the era of the dot.com, McLuhan proclaimed that content is secondary to the characteristics of the medium as the latter has a stronger effect on the perception of the receiver.
More than anyone, Steve Jobs understands this notion. The iPad has created a wave of sentiments be it to ones contentment or chagrin of the necessity for such a device.
One things for sure, it definitely could revolutionize and possibly revive the print publication industry as it enables the static to transcend onto digital. With an influx of application based publications, this medium could change the online media landscape with its interactive digital content comparatively to a traditional website.

Interview Magazine, in conjunction with the iPad launch and coinciding with their 40th anniversary, was one of the first to introduce a fashion magazine as an iPad app. The April issue features specific digital content designed for the device.

Check out their demo, it is so tantalizing that it makes me want to lineup at the Apple store for the Canadian release in May! Or, I might just wait for the second generation...

BONUS: There is a great article by the Fashion Techie on digital magazine.

SO FRESH: Sky Ferreira

I've began a new series where I'll share all that inspires and flutters my fashion heart from art, design and music.

This electro-pop 17 year old singer is the real deal (take note Ke$ha!). She is cool, soulful and crazy talented. Working on her debut album with the likes of producer Dallas Austin, her tracks are fresh and fun that will have you toe-tapping away.
My fave songs are Take it Slow, Teen Lovers and Happy Dre which the latter is a remix from Dr.Dre's 2001 hit Still DRE. Take a listen!
