Do's for shopping at La Braderie de mode québécoise

In my civil fashion duty, I once created "The Seven Habits of a Highly Effective Shopper"
As La Braderie de mode québécoise is only a couple of days away, I wish to share with you dear readers my tips on how to savvy shop through the trenches of fashionable finds.

BE IN THE KNOW
Shop your own closet and take stock of what you own. This will help dampen the urge to frivously shop. List key pieces that will easily mix-and-match with your current wardrobe. Think Barilà's LWD (Little White Dress) which could be great under last season's boyfriend blazer. Also, a no brainer, but know your size!

BE IN FASHION
Not sure if you should go for the skinny or the wide leg? For fashion inspiration, flip through your fave magasines or even visit blogs of the likes of Yourkloset, Montreal In Style and À la mode Montréal for looks to love.
That being said, it's important not to be a fashion victim by following trends to the T. Know what works for you based on your body type and personal taste.

BE IN MEANS
Know the budget you are working with.
On the flip side, this is the best time to invest in key quality pieces that will last you a long time. Think double breasted Mackage wool coat that will keep you looking sharp and warm for many seasons to come.

BE IN COMFORT
Dress for a shop-till-you-drop spree. You've been waiting the last six months for La Braderie to arrive so give it justice by dressing in easy on/off clothes. For instance, wear leggings with a loose fitted Tee or chic espadrilles with a frock could be a great choice. Nothing more daunting than wriggling out of layers and layers of clothing.

BE IN EARLY
If you can, visit La Braderie this Thursday or Friday preferably during the day. For sure you'll have more spare time on the weekend, chances are so is the rest of the city, but at least you'll get first dibs on the best digs. This way you'll have enough time to peruse every dainty dress found at !Nu I Fashion

{At last Montreal Fashion Week with designer Vickie Joseph,
both wearing !Nu.I Fashion}

*** BONUS ***
BE IN GOOD COMPANY
Why else are the besties there for than to give you sincere shopping advice. Besides enjoying  great bonding, once you leave La Braderie, you could wine and dine at any of the surrounding restaurants. I suggest trying L'Autre Version, Chez L'Épicier or L'Usine de Spaghetti Parisienne. If cocktails are more your thing, head over to Le Piano Rouge for great music, great ambiance and a great time.

Now Ready.Set.Shop!
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
