Fashionably late, Bonjour 2012!

The last time I posted, I was basking in the sun and feting the Holiday season. With the turning of the New Year, along with becoming one year older, it's inevitable that I ponder upon my goals for 2012 and consequently the faith of Montreal In Fashion
Did you know that I started MiF in the summer of 2008 as an entry to Fashion Magazine's blogging contest?? Though I've worked in the fashion business for some years now, my blog has provided me with an additional creative outlet and the ability to be the author of my own publishing platform, and also, the opportunity to meet many more Montreal fashion folks all the while discovering the latest in the beauty, design, and apparel industry.
Fast forward four years and I'm at a cross-road between: Why did I begin this blog? Where do I want it to go? What is my message? What is my motivation? How does Blogging/Tweeting/Posing/Facebooking align with Candice? I have the answers to some and the others, well I'm leaving up to the Universe to whisper them to me :)
But what I can confidently say is finally at the ripe age of 33 I'm aware of my passion. Funny, I think subconsciously I already knew but simply wasn't still enough to hear it. I realize what brings me the most joy is sharing and illustrating fashion. I thrive on discovering and featuring talented individuals that I've had the pleasure of coming across. I'm curious beyond reason to know what makes these creatives' mind tick and their ability to conjure such beauty. I believe sharing someone's story is a nice way to connect us to one another. I also realize that I enjoy giving a helping hand by offering beauty and style advice...
I took a pause from posting because #1 I was on vacation, #2 I recently got a pretty cool contract producing periodic fashion content for a client, and #3 I took some time to enjoy Life by living a lifestyle with less stress and more quality time- must be the after-effect of lounging under a palm tree!
So, as for the plans for 2012, mum's the word! There's really no need for me to ring in the trumpets and claim this and that. Seth Godin said it best on his blog this week: "Promise a lot but deliver even more."

I leave you with a snapshot of what I've been up to.

Oh how I wish to go back to Trinidad where everything was sooooo relaxing!

Artwork created by a talented cousin of mine. The lovely lady is in her early twenties!

Back in Montreal with full intention to wear colour despite the froid!

My lovely BF took me on a surprise Bday getaway to Vermont. While there, we visited the Von Trapp Family Lodge, you know the fame family from whom the movie The Sound of Music is based on.

Remembering the late Etta James.

The Burlington B&B where we stayed was originally the residence of a government Senator back in the 18th century.

I feel very rested and have a welcoming sense of calmness. Beginning next Monday, Montreal Fashion Week begins for their 22nd edition. I always love the actual shows but this time around I'm a bit less enthusiastic for the unnecessary shenanigans that go on off-stage. But nonetheless, I'll be there to capture the shows that I think you'll love along with giving you a backstage pass to the beauty corner.

[WANNA KNOW] So it's been one month since the start of the New Year. What have you set for yourself in 2012 and have you stuck with them?
And most importantly, did you miss me!! :)
Always looking forward to reading your comments.
