Nu.I by Vickie Vieux-Montreal Boutique

I think the brand that I was the most photographed in Style Spotted looks this summer must be Nu.I by Vickie. My repeat-offender style had me clad in a sleeveless floral vest which I'm on a track-record of wearing now every third day!

(See here where I'm featured in Huffington Post Citizen Style and while interviewing Jay Manual.)

I'm not just a supporter of the brand but I'm also friends with the lovely designer Vickie Joseph. So I was beyond excited and proud of her for opening her second boutique located in the quaint area of Old-Montreal.

A space fit for the urban woman, the store is like stepping into an airy downtown loft where the clothing are neatly merchandised and the accessories are nestled in white compartments. Personally, I prefer a minimalist shopping environment where I have ease to look at every garment. Don't you?

Speaking of clothing, the line's name is quite fitting to the brand's vision as the clothing are quite unique. There's a "show-stopping" quality to Vickie's eclectic creations. For example, a classic white shirt becomes contemporary with shoulder cut-outs, a military vest becomes stand-out with a floral print, and a summer frock becomes a must-have with a bold tribal design. Her approach of fusing a myriad of styles illustrates that she certainly does have a New Eye for fashion!

Check out some of the images from the spanking-new boutique.

Even though fall is around the corner, you can still stock up on fashionable summer clothing. Until this Friday, August 31, Nu.I by Vickie is offering a 25% rebate on all their Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Perfect for next season but also, they could come in handy if you're heading this Holidays to a sunny destination.

Living Chic with Jacob for Fall 2012

Have you been to Jacob lately? You should go! Their fall offering is a smart and stylish selection of what I like to call a coffee-to-cocktails collections! You know, a line for career-driven women that also indulge in a great social life. Hey that sounds like me :)

Montreal In Fashion attended the media presentation for their latest collection and I spotted lots of polka-dots, dandy tweed, lovely lace, chic houndstooth, and, colour du jour, cool cobalt.
Inspired by the Swinging Sixties (a little less groovy and a bit more chichi!) they've characterized this collection with The Mods, a set of playful prints, A-line minis, colourful accessories, and a to-die-for moto jacket with faux leather sleeves.

The Magic of Ponte is this miracle fabric that slims the silhouette- perfect, no spanks needed! You'll find contrasting chemises, figure-flattering pencil skirts, narrow cropped pants, and well-fitted blazers.

The Silhouette Club is a collection of classics with a twist. Contemporary office-wear are modernized with feminine details.

This past July, the line launched their JERSEY by JACOB, a collection of comfortable but equally chic clothing that's perfect to wear the weekend but also for those work-at-home ladies. So now there's really no reason to ever wear drab sweats again!

Beauty Tutorial: Montreal In Fashion #5Blogeurs5Looks

A couple of weeks ago, I showcased my stylist skills at the Festival Mode et Design #5Blogeurs5Looks show. The bold beauty of the Montreal In Fashion concept Make,Believe was achieved by my dear friend and fine makeup artist Lisa Sim.

Her line of Simple.Intelligent.Makeup better known as SIM Minerals is one that I personally use on a daily basis. The skin-friendly products are formulated with pure pigments, natural aromatherapy, green tea, and vitamin E. These cosmetics leave you looking radiant with a healthy glow!

To reflect the Grey Gardens theme, we came up with an austere vision of glared eyes, oxblood bouche, and angular contouring accentuated with arched brows. Musing as Little Edies, the models were aged by penciling in crows feet and laugh lines!

Inspiration for the Make, Believe. Hair and makeup by Lisa.

Here's a how-to to get the beauty looks. I don't suggest for you to wear this to the office or running errands. But you can definitely apply a pared-back version of the look for a special night out on the town.

Loose powder.
For pale skin: Barely There
For fair skin: Cashmere
For dark skin: Tawny
Bonzer for contouring: Naturally Suntan
(all SIM Minerals)
