IGLOOFEST 2013 IN BLACK+WHITE

Last Saturday, I attended Igloofest 2013 to hear Kaytranada and TNGHT live.
Besides fashion, I also have a musical heart. I often listen to their soundcloud mixes when I want my creative juices to flow. I love the fact that they are from Montreal and have the chops for international stardom.

It was great despite the sub zero temp and that my cam lost battery after only an hour - ah lordy! Anywho, here are some snaps from the evening (involuntary shaky-hands effect came from having frost-bitten fingers!)

KAYTRANADA

Whaaat! K is wearing a Superfluous denim jacket!

TNGHT

I got many props for my 40ozVan X Vintage Frames snapback which BTW will be available in limited release this Saturday, February 2 at both Exclusity boutiques.

Don't forget to check out next Friday, February 1 my homie Lexis' Music Is My Sanctuary set.

SNAPPY SNAPPY FOR MODE MONTRÉAL PHOTOSHOOT

I got snapped!
Mode Montréal, an organization that promotes and supports the city's fashion industry, has put together a capsule titled Vu à Montreal showcasing some local fashion and beauty bloggers. My shoot session was back in December, where the talented photog Alexandre Chabot (seriously creative, check out his work in The Photography Link), chose the Centre Design & Impression Textile for the appropriate setting. My outfit blends in nicely with the muted tones of the creative space. I'm a big believer of self expression, so these features are a great way to get a glimpse of some industry members.

The mandate was to be clad in Montreal-based brands and state our personal signagifcation of dressing in local labels.
If you've been following me on Instagram, you've most likely seen many of these pieces that I'm wearing in the picture. I really don't mind. Even with a closet bursting at the seams, I'm true to what I like and discard being faulted of repeat offender style!

It's always a sweet feeling to be recognized for your work. But what really had me beaming was being complimented on my person. Unfortunately, many fashion peeps concede to an obnoxious behaviour which I simply can't adhere to. We're all the same at the end of the day, regardless of our style status.

WHAT I WORE
HAT: FROM SIMONS
LEATHER JACKET: BOUTIQUE ERA VINTAGE
SCARF: HARRICANA
ACCESSORIES: LOR G JEWELLERY + ALDO

Thank you Mode Montréal and Alexandre Chabot!

10 ESSENTIALS FOR A WINTER GETAWAY

As mentioned in my last post, I recently spent two days in Quebec City to cover Fashion Jam. You would think that packing for such a short trip would be an easy feat. Right? Wrong! Let's just say that my traveling companions were tickled pink when I arrived with my cumbersome suitcase while they each brought a convenient duffle bag. For the amount of times that I've traveled, I seem to be packing-light impaired- ah misère!

Tomorrow I'm off to Toronto to attend the Target Canada media event. It prompted me to re-evaluate my packing method so I came up with these key pieces that are an easy style builder when traveling this season.

THE 10 ESSENTIALS FOR A WINTER GETAWAY

An iconic style that are hip regardless of the occasion.

This two-tone style will keep you cozy and chic.

03. ALDO Accessories necklaces
They take any outfit to serious statement swag!

Enough said!

05. JERSEY by Jacob open-knit snood
The versatility alone makes this winter accessory a must-have.

Fashion meets function. This lambswool style will keep you warm while you use your touchscreen

07. H&M bomber jacket
An alternative to a blazer, its urban look is so fresh.

08. Lacoste tote
The perfect bag, its roomy enough to carry a laptop or use as a purse.

09. Stance socks
They will keep your toots cozy and your style cool.

This lean look plays nicely with proportions when teaming it to a voluminous topper. Plus, the sleek trimming is really chic.

FASHION JAM 2013 IN BLACK+WHITE

As mentioned last week, myself along with four other Montreal bloggers headed to Quebec City to attend the 7th edition of Fashion Jam held January 18, 2013 at le Centre des congrès de Québec part of the Snowboard Jamboree
For my first foray coveting the event, I was amazed by the magnitude of the production. There were a total of 51 models that strutted on a 150 feet runway while showcasing 18 fashion brands in front of a 2K+ crowd!
The visual effects were so captivating that regardless of where you were positioned in the room, you had a beautiful view.

Kudos to Artistic Director Ysabelle Mercier for her impeccable job! Check out the Montreal In Fashion Facebook Album for a backstage view on the looks. I especially love the unique style of wrapping pearls over the model's hair.

Nothing short of a rocking party, this one-of-a-kind fashion event captures the streetwear spirit of the snowboard culture.
I snapped this lovely lady while she was on her phone. She later told me that she's a snowboarder. I think that's beyond cool!

Gabrielle from Dentelles & Fleur rocking the crop top like no one's business!

Carolane from Ton Petit Look in full convo with one of the models featured in the Uranium SS2013 campaign.

I pleasantly discovered the Quebecer label Teaspoon which became my collection crush for the evening. Biker bad-ass with an urban edge, the line is designed with bold prints and a unisex vibe that has all the makings for me to covet. I got to hang out with some of the crew and they are definitely cool peeps!

Barilà also put on a pretty showing with their hipster-esque collection of soft denim dresses, chic onesies, and slouchy-cool silhouettes. It truly captured the effervescence  style of La Montréalaise woman!

Beaming Gaëlle from Le Blog Mode. She was a delight to have has a roommate!
I appreciate mixing a glam gem with an effortless piece. Great look Lolitta from Fashion Is Everywhere!

Uranium ceased the moment to state a manifesto on true creativity. Bravo!

Lifetime Collective, Plenty, and Burton also made the event a fashion shower!

I came across this tatted dude and fell in love with his sweatshirt. Newly founded, the line is called Young Ghosts Clothing and founded by the guys from the band The New Cities.
They offered me a crop Tee of my own and I went directly to the ladies room to change.

The night ended on a top note with Montreal DJs SHAYdaKiss and A-Rock having everyone dance till the wee hours!

A warm Thank You goes out to Gestev and the Quebec Tourisme Bureau for the invitation to travel with Via Rail and to be welcomed at Hôtel Pure and the Hilton Quebec. My stay was a blast and I would gladly accept to attend once again.
Congrats on a successful event!
